Construction at Astrea Academy (formerly Woodside School) is now well underway with major ground works being undertaken on the new build site to create plateaus for the playgrounds and the three ground floor slabs. The amazing views across the city give a great impression of the aspect which the new building will have - particularly from the feature glazing in the library and dining areas overlooking the city skyline.
The Listed building on the school campus, which will house the academy's primary years, is also undergoing a major renovation with the new roof set to be completed for the end of the year. Presently the building is a sea of structure, with an estimated 350 tonnes of scaffolding supporting the upper floors and roof structure of the building. The primary building will be fully refurbished to create bright and modern teaching spaces in this historic Sheffield landmark ready for the new school year in September 2018.
