Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Cystic Fibrosis Unit
Sheffield Children's Hospital
Cystic Fibrosis affects around 8500 people in the UK, making it one of the most common life-threatening inherited diseases, drastically reducing a patient’s life expectancy to under 40.
The Design
Each of the 12 single, en-suite bedrooms in the refurbishment has a different theme, from New York Loft to Zen Garden. The boutique hotel style has been continued with a refreshing colour scheme and bespoke fitted furniture, which disguises the medical equipment to give a less clinical appearance. As well as plasma screen televisions, laptops and Wii’s in each room, the unit benefits from an exercise suite, a kitchen, assisted bathroom and two treatment rooms.
