St Anne’s Specialist School
The Design
The new specialist school building will provide a broad range of facilities for children with a wide spectrum of special needs. The school also has an outstanding residential facility which will provide year round support. This will comprise 18 bedrooms for pupils, 3 for staff and a range of support spaces, dining and lounge areas.
Hessle ward members have been consulted over the whole proposal, as well as key officers at the East Riding of Yorkshire Council including Director of Children, Families and Schools, Head of Children and Young People Specialist Services, Head of Adult Services, Principal Education Asset officer, strategic housing team and special needs officers. NHS inclusion teams have also been consulted on the project.
The Outcome
The facility will provide a setting where a range of professionals are able to deliver appropriate interventions, including therapeutic interventions, to manage severe and complex family pressures. Children and young people and their families /carers are able to develop resilience and strategies that allow the child or young person to continue to live at or return to their home.
